אסתר מוצ'ניק היום בפומבי:
ב18 במאי, כותרת של אחד ממאמרי הדעה כאן בעיתון הציבורי, נאמר: ′′ לישראל יש זכות קיום?"
The article is signed by a gentleman named Alexandre Guerreiro and I confess that reading the title and article came to mind the words with which Bill Clinton welcomed in 1996 after the murder of Itzhak Rabin, the newly sworn Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, when visiting Washington tries to teach him a ′′ masterful lesson ′′ about the Arab-Israeli conflict. And those words were, ′′ Who do you take this guy for?"
In the article by Alexandre Warrior, apart from pro posing ′′ solid reprisals against Israel ", there are two phrases I would like to highlight. The first in which he claims that ′′ in practice, the genesis of the argument in favor of creating the State of Israel does not differ from the nature that inspired organizations like the Islamic State…". The other is more subtle: ′′ no State, as a legal entity – politics, it has a 'right to exist': people have the right to self-determination."
With regard to the first, it is strange that it is necessary to explain to its author that the self-called Islamic State has declared the religious and political Islamisation of the attacked zones and regions, through terror over the populations. In turn, the State of Israel, apart from not wanting to ′′ judge ′′ anyone but its own sheep trashed, is, not the cause, but the consequence of almost continuous terror over centuries, and the only way of having a corner where they own their own destiny.
As for the second, it is true that the peoples should have the right to self-determination in creating their own state and that was precisely the option, the battle of more than a century carried out by the Jewish people that allowed them to access the ′′ right to exist ". I've written it here, but I'll say it again: however important the UN's decision was, Israel was not created by the United Nations: it was built stone by stone by the men and women who started building their foundations a century earlier – a Your agriculture, your industry, your universities, your health and education network, your army, your democratic political structure. All of this already existed and was practically ready before 1947/1948. The United Nations decision was fundamental, but it's good to remember that it came to legitimize an existing reality.
The Palestinian people are entitled to their self-determination and to their own state. I know that Benjamin Netanyahu's successive governments have done everything to counter this goal, particularly by allying themselves with a fanatical, nationalist and racist extreme right wing that has done a lot of harm to Israel too. I don't review the policy of progressive and increasingly savage settlement in other territory. And I don't see myself in a political leadership holding a country hostage to ambitions a man who wants to escape justice. But it is not by fighting for the destruction of Israel that a Palestinian state will be built, not even through any international recognition. This one does nothing but sanction an existing reality.
Hamas is a terrorist organization that does not recognise the existence of the State of Israel. But you also know it's not your about 3500 rockets that will destroy you. Even if it costs the lives of hundreds or thousands of Gaza men, women and children, Hamas knows that it will never be able to win Israel by guns. Its goal is another: to get Israel's repudiation and international condemnation, which is not difficult as we have seen, and to reach the leader of the Palestinian people not only in Gaza, but also in the West Bank and why not , of the Israeli Arab community itself. This is not impossible, not only because of the lack of leadership from the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank, but because of the support it receives from Iran in particular.
Today, the ′′ international community ", calls on the ceasefire partly to stop civilians dying. I personally agree. But some go further demanding Israel and Israel alone ′′ an immediate end to the attacks on Gaza ". The aforementioned Alexandre Warrior also calls for the criminal responsibility of Israeli senior officials ′′ for international crimes committed against the Arabian population of the region ′′ and is not alone. Some and others forget Hamas crimes, not only against their own population but also against indiscriminate civil targets of the Israeli population. They forget the unbridled appeals of terrorist organization responsible calling for the killing of Jews all over the world, going to the point of explaining in detail how they should do it. They forget how, everywhere, the foam of anger and hate falls on those beside them: the Jews. The consequences? Nothing serious, just figures: of the 9 million European Jews before the Second Great War, today it's 1,3 million across the continent. The reasons? No need to explain.]
