But did the year of the Corona affect the demand for real estate by international investors and foreign immigrants from all over the world? From which countries do most immigrant investors come? So according to the report, about 22% of the total demand for residential properties in Portugal is from foreign investors and immigrants. We would expect the percentage to be lower than in previous years due to the difficulty of arriving, seeing and performing actions physically but to our surprise the opposite has happened. Only increased when buyers from Spain, France, Brazil, Britain, Germany, USA, Canada and Switzerland lead the list of demand. Israelis also want to buy properties, of course, but at the moment these are negligible numbers compared to the countries mentioned. So what are the areas most sought after by foreign buyers in Portugal? It seems that the demand during 2020 was indeed affected by the corona plague, and most of the demand reached places less affected by the corona such as the islands of Madeira and Azores, and places where there is quick access to open spaces such as the southern Algarve and open areas in the north. We can see that this year, the demand in Lisbon and the surrounding areas has decreased and decreased.
