Business or pleasure? In Portugal they took care of you both!

Following the Corona crisis we learned that it is possible to work and live anywhere and in any situation. So why not do it in a sunny place with a sea view? This is exactly the idea emerging on the southern coast of Madeira’s Portuguese archipelago in the middle of the Atlantic: Europe’s first digital nomadic village, which is expected to open on 01.02.21. This village is the result of a joint effort between the governor of Maidra and the well-known digital nomad from the Netherlands Gonzalo Hall. Gonzalo still remembers the first time he visited the island, “I was in Bali, I was in Thailand. I was in all the digital nomads paradises. But when I visited Madeira, I flew and immediately saw the potential there. It’s just stunning. It’s amazing.” He says he is frustrated that not many people know the island. https://youtu.be/YE17MfXE2nE Gonzalo is the one who came up with the idea of creating a digital nomadic village in Madeira at a conference last year, inaugurated by the Portuguese economy minister and attended by a number of other senior officials. “I told them they should take the opportunity to bring remote workers to the island and turn it into a source of income. It seems my proposal did not impress them at that moment, but the next day I spoke with Governor Madeira. And hired me to work with the government there to promote the island.” Gonzalo says the main goal is to create a community atmosphere between locals and digital nomads. “All of our partners are local. We have partnered with various local businesses such as real estate and car rental companies. The aim is to help the local community benefit from the social and economic impact that such an initiative can have, “they also organize events in collaboration with the locals. So what’s so special about Maidra? The weather is pleasant all year round, living there is very cheap, the views are breathtaking. In addition, Maidra was crowned as the leading island destination in Europe by 2020. Already 300 people have applied for remote work, and all this even before they started promoting the idea of the village. So for anyone who can work from anywhere this is the opportunity to discover a new destination that is exclusively for people like you!! So what are you waiting for to work in front of breathtaking views, gain experiences and meet people from all over the world? For more details and registration click here.
